Private Pilot

For individuals who have a passion for flying and wish to make their hobby a reality.

At Kootenay Valley Helicopters you will receive the following air and ground training, for the flight training you will be using our turbine powered Bell 206BIII Jet Ranger.

- 45 hours flight instruction

- 40 hours of ground school including the following topics:
i) Canadian Aviation Regulations,
ii) Aerodynamics and Theory of Flight,
iii) Meteorology,
iv) Airframes, Engines and Systems,
v) Flight Instruments
vi) Radio and Electronic Theory,
vii) Navigation,
viii) Flight Operations,
ix) Licensing Requirements, and
x) Human Factors including pilot decision-making

- Textbooks, flight manuals and navigation supplies are not included in the cost of the course.

- On a full-time basis, this course takes approximately 1 month to complete. Please contact us about scheduling the course around your needs.

In order to receive your Private Licence, you must pass the following:
- A Transport Canada written exam PPHEL, 100 multiple choice questions
- A Transport Canada Flight Test
